Structures in a Barren Land

Whether built for shelter, convenience or practicality, humanity will often place structures in remote or apparently inhospitable places. These structures depict our ingenuity; making footprints on every last fragment of land, our fragility; seeking refuge from the wilds of nature and our neglectful attitudes; as the remains of once inhabited spaces are left to decay, when our use for them comes to an end.

In my photographs these structures are metaphors for all of these eventualities, as I go in search of refuge from society, whilst yearning to be a part of it. As a result, both of my desires are negated, and I remain adrift in isolation.
