unique and inspirational Yorkshire locations.

Season 2: Episode 1 - Excuse me while I start exposing

In the first episode of a brand new season for 2024, Tom, the Flat Capped Photographer, visits Langcliffe Hoffman Lime Kiln near Settle in the Yorkshire Dales.

This domineering structure was built in 1873 to smelt fertile lime from the abundant limestone in the area. Today it is dormant but open to the public to take a step back into the industrial history of the Dales.

Although the impressive structure would be excellent to photograph in its own right,  Tom has other ideas on his mind as, accompanied by his lightbulb on a rope, fairy lights and kitchen whisk, he tries out some light painting under the cover of the kiln's darkness.

Take a look at the photos he took below and listen along to find out how he got on.
