Industry in the Peak District
Over three days in June join us to discover a gritty yet extremely photogenic side to Derbyshire's Peak District. From the industrial towns and villages on the fringes of the national park to relics and ruins hidden amongst it's peaks, this weekend will be an adventure into 'New Topographic' Photography as we discover a hidden side to the Peak District.
Please note: The total cost for this weekend is £330, which includes an initial non-refundable deposit of £100 will be taken to secure your place.
Dates: Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June 2026
Weekend Base: Buxton (See below for accommodation recommendations)
Please note that the information below is weather dependant, sessions may be rearranged to suit the best conditions.
DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS
On our first day in the Peaks we will explore the sunken industry of New Mills. Following the River Goyt through The Torrs Riverside Park, we will marvel at the infrastructure surrounding Torr Vale Mill. On our way to Buxton we will call in at Bugsworth Canal Basin.
DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS
On day two we will start in Millersdale as we explore the Monsal Railway Line Trail over impressive viaducts and through winding tunnels to Old East Buxton Lime Kilns. From here we will travel a short distance down the road to the ruins of Magpie Mine.
DAY THREE HIGHLIGHTS
On our final day in the Peak District we will start off with a Photo Walk through Buxton itself before heading down the road to the remains of Cowdale Quarry & Lime Works. Here we will venture into a series of abandoned industrial structures to see what remains.
